information / Families
Families have always been a central consideration when organising Blissfields,
this is natural as organisers Paul and Mel are parents as well. The early
festivals were notable for many artists having to cope with children cartwheeling
around close to the front of the stage during their sets! Although the
appreciative crowd has grown and therefore lessend this activity children's
enjoyment and welfare are still well looked after.
The open, grass covered Matterley Bowl will be one huge playground for
children but we would like to stress that any under 16's are permitted
entry only on the understanding that they are accompanied and supervised
by a responsible adult. The facilites we provide are not a "drop
off creche" area but somewhere for you to join in the activities
with your family.
Campsite Family Area:This area close to the car park
and wash areas and furthest from the noise of the stage will help you
when arriving and when the children are worn out and want to sleep.
Food Stalls: They will be serving quality food but we
believe the selection will offer something for even the most fussy eater!
Workshops: There will be varied workshops and activities
in the family area including green woodworking, art, drumming and astronomy!
As plans become more advanced we will be posting more details on the website,
so please check back here.
Family Area: The main constituent of the family area
will be Panic Circus who will entertain and excite children of all ages
based in their big top. In addition the varied workshops, relevant stalls,
cafes and nearby welfare point will complete the area.
Lost Children: We will be running a lost child service
in conjunction with Panic Circus and have procedures in place to make
sure you are reunited with them as quickly as possible if you do get separated.
These will include child wristbands that you will be able to write you
mobile number on and nominated CRB checked child stewards.
Panic Circus: Panic Circus are well known in the field
of festival fields for their commitment to making FUN for families at
all sorts of events.Child centred and people friendly ,they supply a diverse
programme of workshops and fun and games for the WHOLE family. Working
from their distinctive RedGreenYellow little Bigtop the team can not be
missed. Watch the blackboards for each days programme ranging from Circus
workshops,Puppet shows,clown
shows,games sessions,bubblefun and more.Each weekend residency culminates
in the now legendary "GRAND KIDS CIRCUS SHOW" starring the talents
of YOUR children.
Parents please note that while the panic team is committed to making the
festival a great experience for you and your children.....we do not run
a captive child "creche "children are at all times the responsibility
of their parents.www.paniccircus.co.uk
Native Ground - "Natural learning in a real world
environment", a mini-tipi village just for children to let their
imaginations run free, along with games and activities. www.nativeground.co.uk
