NEWS / The Wonder stuff Headline Friday
night!
We are really excited to have The Wonder Stuff headlining The Punch Bowl
on the Friday. A band not only with a huge back catalogue of crowd pleasers
but festival favourites across the country and reknowned for their energetic
performances!
A quick history: Formed in 1986 they quickly got a huge
following from their live performance and were signed up to Polydor in
1987. Commercial success came with their third album in 1990, the first
single off it was the hit "The Size of a Cow"and after the third
single from the album was released they also recorded "Dizzy"
with Vic Reeves for Comic Relief which reached number one for two weeks.
At this time they were played their first stadium gig to 18,000 fans at
Walsall's ground. After four albums and seventeen singles they performed
their final show on July 15, 1994 at a headlining performance at the Phoenix
Festival near Stratford-on-Avon in front of over 30,000 fans
However the band reformed in 2000 and have been gigging and releasing
albums for the last seven years. They have a new album out in April 2008
and have just released an album of BBC Sessions. Front man Miles Hunt
also has a very active solo performing carrer running parallel to the
bands.
A great crowd puller for any festival we are proud to have them play
at B8!
